EASL announces Journal of Hepatology’s exceptional Impact Factor of 26.8 for 2023

The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) is proud to announce that the Journal of Hepatology, its flagship publication, achieved an impact factor of 26.8 in the 2024 release of Journal Citation Reports (JCR) by Clarivate, solidifying its position as the premier journal in the field of hepatology.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy as many competing journals in the field saw a decline in their impact factors. The sustained growth of the Journal of Hepatology underscores the journal’s dedication to publishing high-caliber research that will shape the future of hepatology.

Prof. Paolo Angeli, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hepatology, expressed his pride and appreciation for the hard work behind this achievement.

During a challenging period for Gastroenterology and Hepatology journals, we increased our IF to 26.8, placing JHEP at the top of the field. This achievement wasn’t unexpected; it reflects the hard work and commitment of our Editorial Team. Our success is driven by strategic vision, tactical flexibility, and timeliness, fostering a professional and respectful team environment. We celebrate this milestone as a step toward even greater successes for our journal..  .”

As the Journal of Hepatology continues to build on this success, EASL remains dedicated to supporting the journal’s mission of advancing liver research and promoting scientific collaboration.

The Journal of Hepatology’s outstanding impact factor for 2023 is a testament to the dedication and expertise of its editorial team, the amazing work of the reviewers, and the high-quality contributions from researchers around the globe.. As the Journal of Hepatology continues to build on this success, EASL remains dedicated to supporting the journal’s mission of advancing liver research and promoting scientific collaboration.

About the Journal of Hepatology

The Journal of Hepatology is a monthly, English language, peer-reviewed journal. First published in 1985 as the official journal of EASL, it provides an international forum for the publication of original articles, reviews and letters to the Editor describing basic laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations in hepatology. All articles undergo a rigorous peer review and are selected based on the originality of the findings, the superior quality of the work described, and the clarity of presentation.
