About

Love Your Liver is EASL’s flagship community engagement initiative, created to extend the impact of the annual EASL Congress beyond the four walls of the venue and into the cities that host it. By bringing liver health education, liver testing, and expertise directly to local people, the initiative aims to raise awareness of liver health, promote early detection and care, and strengthen local capacity in hepatology.

Activities

Each year, Love Your Liver delivers two complementary initiatives in the host city:

The liver health education initiative connects local primary schools with hepatologists to introduce children to the importance of liver health through engaging presentations and hands-on activities. Using interactive demonstrations, art projects, and physical activities, the programme inspires healthy habits from an early age while making science accessible and fun.

The liver health promotion initiative offers members of the public free liver health assessments, including transient elastography to assess liver stiffness and fat accumulation, hepatitis C testing, and opportunities to speak with volunteers about liver health promotion, disease prevention, and care.

As EASL’s foremost community outreach programme, Love Your Liver reflects a commitment to serving the people at the heart of the liver community. EASL seeks not only to advance liver science but also to give back to its host cities – transforming the Congress into an opportunity to improve public health, develop meaningful partnerships, and create lasting local impact.

The Food is Medicine: World Liver Day Recipe Book 2025, developed collaboratively by EASL, AASLD, APASL, ALEH and SOLDA, has been named Best Health and Nutrition Free Book in the World at the Gourmand Awards. This is a significant international recognition highlighting the importance of nutrition and lifestyle in liver health.
