The Liver Matters programme brings primary care physicians, hepatologists, and patient advocates together to address the challenges of early detection and diagnosis, communication and stigma, and referral pathways in liver disease care. The programme drives cross-disciplinary learning to improve healthcare outcomes in Europe.
The Preventative Hepatology Course is an accredited educational course designed to support hepatologists and allied health professionals in becoming liver health advocates. The course provides an overview of the structural factors that contribute to liver disease and offers practical solutions to reduce its significant burden.
The EASL-Lancet Commission showed that almost 780 people die from liver disease every day in Europe. The burden of liver disease and the resulting strain on health systems increases every year. This report highlights the opportunity and necessity for all European countries to incorporate liver health into their NCD strategies.
The Patient Synergies Network strengthens EASL’s collaboration with patient advocates to ensure the voices of people affected by liver disease are heard. Together, we work to raise awareness, support better healthcare policy, and advance initiatives that improve care for patients and their families.
GLAN brings together advocates, healthcare professionals, and organisation working to advance liver health education worldwide. In a cross-border collaboration, GLAN members are working towards the inclusion of liver health in primary and secondary schools worldwide.
Love Your Liver raises awareness of liver health and promotes early detection of liver disease through two community engagement initiatives – providing free liver tests to the public and matching hepatologists with local schools to provide classroom education to primary school students.
EASL policy statements review the epidemiology of liver disease and analyse the main risk factors to identify effective public health interventions. They are designed to inform decisions and support actions that reduce the burden of liver disease.
Viral hepatitis elimination requires action across healthcare, policy, public health, and patient communities. Through the Viral HOPE programme, EASL brings these stakeholders together to accelerate progress towards hepatitis elimination.
The Collaborating Centre is a tripartite partnership between the World Health Organization, Imperial College London, and EASL. Together, the partners will translate the WHA79 resolution into concrete national action.
