Stefano Romeo, MD, PhD, is a physician–scientist specialising in the genetics of metabolic and liver diseases. He received his medical degree from Campus Biomedico University in Rome (2001) and completed residency in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at Sapienza University of Rome (2006). During his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (2006–2009). He subsequently held a Clinical Lectureship at the University of Cambridge (2009–2011).
From 2016 to 2024, as Professor of Molecular and Clinical Medicine at the University of Gothenburg and Senior Consultant at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden.
From September 1st 2024, he is based at Karolinska Institute in Huddinge, Sweden as a Professor in Clinical Diabetology and Senior Consultant in Endocrinology, advancing translational genetics of metabolic and liver disease.
