WHO Steatotic Liver Disease Collaborating Centre

About

Launched in June 2026, this is the first WHO collaborating centre dedicated to liver disease, and the first ever designated in partnership with a medical association rather than a single institution. Backed by EASL’s clinical and scientific network, it exists to turn the WHA79 resolution into national action — providing the infrastructure, evidence and technical support that political commitment alone cannot deliver.

WHO Collaborating Centre

Workplan

Over its first four-year workplan, the Centre will:

  • Deliver a pan-European Region assessment of steatotic liver disease
  • Develop evidence-based policy reports on the disease’s major forms
  • Produce prevention tools, training materials and implementation guidance for national programmes
  • Provide direct technical support to countries strengthening their SLD response
