Prof. Francesco Paolo Russo completed his Medical School in 1997 at the University of Padua in Italy, where he also specialized in Gastroenterology in 2002 and obtained his PhD in Hepatological Sciences in 2006. Thanks to the prestigious EASL Sheila Sherlock Fellowship, he carried out his research between the Hepatology Unit/Imperial College London and the Histopathology Unit/Cancer Research UK in London.
In 2006, he became Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at the Department of Surgery, Oncology and Gastroenterology, at the University of Padua, and he was nominated Rising Star in Gastroenterology in 2009 during the UEGW 2009.
In July 2008 he attended as Visiting Fellow the Division of Liver Disease at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and, in June 2018 he was Invited as Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh funded by the Erasmus plus 2017-18, STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING.
Since May 2020 he has been appointed Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Padua. His research is focused on chronic liver transplantation, viral hepatitis, HCC, liver fibrosis and regeneration.
He was in the Governing Board of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver between 2017-2021.
