After her Ph.D. in 1993 at Sorbonne University in Paris, Catherine Postic completed her post-doctoral work at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, USA) in Pr Mark Margnuson’s laboratory, an expert in pancreatic islet bilogy. During this fellowship she was trained in the field of molecular biology and achieved the making of a conditional locus for the glucokinase (GK) gene in pancreas and in liver, a key gene of glucose metabolism. In 2000, she obtained a permanent position at the CNRS in Paris. Since 2006, Catherine Postic is a group leader and since 2021 Director of the Metabolism and Endocrinology department at the Institut Cochin, Paris, France. She is internationally recognized in the field of metabolism and glucose sensing. Her team focuses on the hepatic contribution to energy homeostasis, and particularly aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in MASLD (Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease). She has more than 100 publications in the field of liver pathophysiology.
