Sarwa Darwish Murad (MD, PhD) is a hepatologist at Erasmus MC University Medical Center in Rotterdam, specialised in liver transplantation and vascular liver diseases. She completed her MD training (2004) and a PhD in vascular liver diseases (2008) at the Erasmus MC. She did her Internal Medicine training (2007-2010) and an AASLD research fellowship (2010-2011) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Subsequently, she returned to Rotterdam where she completed her clinical fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology (2011-2016) and joined staff.
Her academic interests are in primary disease recurrence, vascular complications and Budd-Chiari Syndrome. She has served on the board of VALDIG (2019-2023), was faculty of Baveno VII (2021) and currently serves on the board of ELITA (2023-) and the Dutch Transplant Society (2021-). She is an associate editor for the American Journal of Transplantation and Transplant International.
